Yang Jiechi delivers a speech at the 21st Century Council Beijing Conference

People.cnNovember 2 (Released on the official website of theMinistry of Foreign Affairs) China's State Councilor Yang Jiechi attended the 21st Century Council Beijing Conference and delivered a speech titled China's Diplomacy at the New Historical Outset on November 2, 2013.

 According to Mr. Yang, the world is undergoing an important stage in the evolution of landscape, shaped by the rapid development, stronger trends of change and deepening cooperation. Contemporarily in a crucial period of national revival, China sees its destiny closely linked with the future of the world, and the Chinese diplomacy stands at a new historical outset. During the past year, President Xi and other Chinese leaders successfully carried out a series of major diplomatic actions and gained a good start by issuing to the world a clear message showing China’s commitment to carrying forward the cause pioneered by the predecessors and forging ahead into the future with a high sense of responsibility. China will unswervingly pursue peaceful development and an independent foreign policy of peace, striving to create a new scenario defined by win-win cooperation with other countries.

 We will coordinate our own interests and the common interests of all countries to build a closer community of interests for all, tune the relations with our neighbors, major powers and developing countries to write a new chapter of friendly cooperation with others, balance our obligations and responsibilities based on capacity to make more contributions to the cause of world peace and development, and converge our own goals with the common pursuit of all peoples to jointly create a better future for mankind. Mr. Yang so emphasized
