The 2nd “Understanding China” Conference to highlight the 13th Five-year Plan

    The 2nd three-day "Understanding China" Conference will be convened at the Yanqihu International Conference Center in Beijing on November 1-3. More than 40 former dignitaries, strategists and business leaders from around the world will attend the meeting for in-depth discussion on China's 13th Five-year Plan and development prospects.

    The former dignitaries present at the conference include former Mexican President and Chairman of the 21st Century Council Ernesto Zedillo, former Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, former Pakistani PM Shaukat Aziz, former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, former Spanish PM Felipe Gonzalez, former Australian PM Kevin Rudd, former Singaporean PM Goh Chok Tong, former Japanese House of Representatives Speaker Yohei Kono, former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, etc.

    The Fifth Plenary Session of 18th CPC Central Committee will be convened in middle and late October. At the media briefing on October 19, CIIDS Executive Vice Chairman Wu Jianmin states that the 13th Five-year plan, which draws attention from all over the world beyond China, is also the focus of this session of the Understanding China Conference. According to him, the Conference features good timing, good platform and good content. "Both China and the world will benefit from this positive interaction."

    The Conference is co-sponsored by the CIIDS, CPIFA, Beijing Municipal People's Government and 21st Century Council (Berggruen Institute). Its first conference dates back to November 1-3, 2013, also held in Beijing, attended by over 40 renowned statesmen, strategists, theorists and entrepreneurs.
