Chairman Zheng Bijian met with Prof. Graig Calhoun, President of Berggruen Institute at CIIDS on January 16th, 2018.

Chairman Zheng extended a warm welcome to Prof. Craig Calhoun and his colleagues, saying Berggruen Institute is an old friend of CIIDS. The two Institutes have maintained a sound partnership and held two successful Understanding China Conferences, making a positive impact the world over. CIIDS looks forward to making continued efforts with Berggruen Institute to take the cooperation between the two Institutes to a new high.

Prof. Craig Calhoun said that Berggruen Institute sets great store by China's role in global governance, values very much its cooperation with CIIDS and is proud to see the encouraging and fruitful results the two Institutes have thus far achieved. Berggruen Institute hopes to enhance its cooperation with CIIDS in both depth and scope with a view to making greater contributions to the sound development of Sino-US relations as well as advancing dialogues and exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Chinese and Western philosophies and other issues of common interest.

Director of Berggruen Institute China Center Ms. Bing Song and Academic Director Prof. Roger Ames, Vice President of the CIIDS Council Mr. Feng Wei and Executive Deputy Secretary Mr. Mou Weimin attended the meeting.

    On November 1~3, 2013, the 1st “Understanding China” Conference was held in Beijing, which was cosponsored by China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy (CIIDS), Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), and Berggruen Institute on Governance.


  • The 2nd U.S.-China Strategic Forum on Clean Energy Cooperation

    With the “Prospects for U.S.-China strategic cooperation in next decade” as its theme, the forum dwells on the implications of U.S.-China cooperation from the strategic perspective of coping with global challenges and maintaining world peace.


  • The China Sciences and Humanities Forum

    Co-initiated in April 2003 by renowned Chinese scientist Mr. Lu Yongxiang and influential political strategist Zhen Bijian, China Sciences and Humanities Forum was jointly hosted by Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS) and the Higher Education Press.
